Dotsume (high-density jersey) is an extra-thick fabric weighing approximately 11.5 ounces. It is made from American cotton and knitted on a loop-wheel machine at an exceptionally slow pace-each machine can produce only about 30 T-shirts per day. This slow knitting process allows the yarn to be packed evenly, giving the fabric outstanding resistance to shrinkage and distortion even after repeated wear and washing. The material is opaque, helps minimize the visibility of sweat marks, and its firm structure prevents it from clinging to the skin, ensuring a comfortable wearing experience. The garment is constructed using sweatshirt-style covered seams and features front and back W-gussets, a detail commonly found in vintage sweatshirts.
