Plain jersey is knitted from extra-thick cotton yarn on a rare low-gauge switching machine. The fabric is knitted after 'yarn dyeing' to give it bulkiness. Unlike simple thick jersey, it has a unique texture with an overwhelmingly heavy weight and suppleness. Loose-fitting, armholes are reinforced with high sleeve reinforcement W-stitching to account for the thickness. Shirt collar design with a loose neckline and collar continuation, pullover with deep front placket as seen on baseball uniforms and sturdy diamond-reinforced stitching at the opening stop. Sleeve placket tailored cuffs with side slits for easy on and off. The base-shaped reinforcements on the breast pockets are stitched with expert skill to ensure uniform thickness. The very strong fabric has little stretch, so a bottle neck design is used, with a V-gusset and a high neck that is continuous to make it easy to take off and put on. The silhouette is beautifully shaped towards the collar like the mouth of a bottle, and is sewn with expert sewing techniques for a well-balanced silhouette. The hem is adjustable with straps.
