Fall & Winter 2026
The Umps Pants are crafted from “Back Nep” fabric, a blend of American and Australian cotton that is woven densely on a rapier loom to add tensile strength to the yarn. This enhances the fabric’s durability, making it tough enough to withstand daily wear. The fabric is then dyed, omitting the mercerization process to preserve the neps’ unique texture, which highlights the fabric’s rustic quality and sense of depth. Finally, a resin finish is applied, giving the fabric a crisp firmness and enhancing its wind resistance, while also helping it to maintain its shape after washing. The design of these pants was inspired by the waist silhouette of pants worn by baseball umpires. We added large gusseted pockets to evoke the style of pockets designed to hold spare balls. The silhouette tapers sharply towards the hem, creating a roomy yet sleek impression. This model has been custom-finished by artisans who apply paint splashes to each piece individually. The colors, inspired by field dirt, fences, and white lines, express a love for baseball.
